Default What is the torque spec for the IACV

Subject vehicle: 95 Accord ex vtec

Anyone know the torque for the two bolts that hold the IACV in place? The iacv bolts on this engine have 12mm hex heads. I figure the diameter is around 8mm. I put them in and torqued them to 7 ft lbs. They seem to be rather long bolts for that little part, so I started at a lower torque. The part seems snugged up and on there secure. I forgot to measure the diameter of the bolt before asking this question, thinking I was going to find the spec in Helms, but couldnt find any spec listed. Generic torque value charts hint at 8 to 18 ft lbs. Not sure of the grade of the steel either, the head is marked something like this: | 00. The Throttle Body torque is 16 ft lbs for four studs/bolts, and I think they are about the same diameter. So, what do you guys think, 7 ok ?... 10 ? ... 12 ? ... 14 ? ... 16 ft lbs?

7 ft. lbs. is correct. It is listed in the Helms manual.

The Honda shop manual shows 16 lbf-ft. It's located on page 9-2 of the CD chassis manual.

Honestly, I have never taken out the manual for tq specs on parts like this. I always use the gudentight rule when it comes too small stuff like this. As long as it seals and stays tight, all is good!

My mistake, I was remembering the torque value for the FITV.

The IACV torque value should be 16 ft. lbs. Look at page 9-2.

Edit: GhostAccord beat beat to the post.

Ghost and Tech8,

Thank you. I swore I had seen it before, but when I wasnt able to find it listed in the 11-69 at seq area. I looked in the cooling system chapter too and the specs in the front of the manual. I think I'll snug it up a bit more just to be sure. 9-2 in my Helms has this as part of the intake manifold, which is only 3 pages.
