Can’t adjust timing past 6* btdc?
Does this sound like I have the timing belt off a tooth?
I just installed it and double checked to make sure everything was lined up. Only thing I can think of is the timing belt, I’m jumping the harness and doing all the procedures just like the manual says.
this is a d15z1, i'm not familiar with the sohc's
thanks
pic because people don't look at threads without pics, it's the POS in the background.

I had a similar problem when i put a B18 in my 87 Hatch. I couldnt adjust it past like 12*, i maxed out the adjustment on the distrubitor.
Ended up being i had the CYP sensor wires reversed.

I just did a b15z1 to b15 jdm swap, same motor, all the same sensors, I didn’t mess with the harness. I’m think it’s the cam.
I put the “new” engine at tdc before changing the water pump and timing belt. So when I put the timing belt on and checked the marks it looked a little off, so I thought I might have bumped it a bit so I turned the cam one tooth. But after I did that all the makes lined up perfectly. Think I’ll move it back. Thoughts?

That’s true, also of note is to pay attention with the eg model to what engine you have and the markings that you are supposed to use, I was using the d16 markings and that’s why it was screwed up, when I went back and looked it up the d15z1 markings are a little different although all the d’s use the same timing cover. It runs great now and my DD hopefully will be back to its 40-50 mpg norm for a couple 100,000 more miles.
