Police: Driver dies in crash after racing on San Jose street

A driver died today after he and another driver appeared to be racing about lunchtime in San Jose.
San Jose police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said witnesses reported seeing a white 1988 Honda Civic racing a 2000 green Acura about 12:15 p.m. down Silver Creek Valley Road east of Hellyer Avenue.
The Honda's driver lost control of the car, struck a tree, was thrown out, and was pronounced dead at the scene, Lopez said. His name has not yet been released.
The driver of the Acura is being questioned by police.

That sad that happened but they shouldn't be doing that on the street. Always take it to the track.

 

hah like thats gonna stop street racers. but i know how it is.. when some idiot goes about reving at you, speeding, provoking you to a race, its really tempting to get into one. esp if you know your car is fast or if you think you can take him. it sucks that it happend to the driver of the honda. my condolences..

Sounds like the guy in the Honda wasn't even wearing a belt? :/ If you're going to do something stupid at the very LEAST try and protect yourself.

 

they DESERVE IT!!!! stupid people like that should all die. im not gonna lie that i never race on the street but **** only time i would race on the street is if there is no cars out there at all. either way im not a racer i just like to cruise haha

I feel bad that this happened. This not only makes the import scene look bad, but the fact that it was a Honda... man... that's bad PR on top of the bad rep we already have...

Aside from that, my prayers go out to the victim(s) of this street race and I hope that this is a lesson for other people...

Just the other day I was driving on 101 on my way to San Francisco and a jerk with some messed up S14 Kouki front was driving side by side to me, doing a few revs just to get me going. Good thing I had my sunglasses on because I was just looking at his car from the corner of my eye. All I did was smile and chuckle because for 5 mins he did this. He got tired of waiting for me, and proceeded back where he belonged, the slow lane. Anti-street racing ftw!

im glad he just took himself and not anyone on the road, just imagine if it was your mom or dad driving and some stupid ricer kid crashes into them and kills them, rip but darwin got another one
