What o2 sensor would be good for EJ8 GSR?
I'm new around here and I am buying a car that needs the secondary o2 sensor replaced. I was told that its possible to use the SOHC o2 sensor on it?
It's a 1997 civic EX with a GSR swap.
Not very knowledgeable on mechanical work yet haha, but I did use the search button!

I think its universal between car makers.Like all Hondas the same. Not sure on that though.
Someone help him on this decision!!

this guy obviously knows wtf hes talking about why would u go obd0 sensor was it super cheap or something get it for the model of the motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stubborn people
OK enough non sense!
JDM_yo! What OBD version are you running? Your car is obviously obd2. However, are you running an OBD2 P72 or did you convert to OBD1 using a P28 or similar?
If you are running OBD2 then you NEED TO RUN AN OBD2 O2 SENSOR. Doesn't matter if its a civic, gsr whatever. As long as its OBD2. You can get a cheap one on ebay, or you can get an expensive PnP from an autoparts store.

no you shouldn't have to cut and solder.
you'll unclip the old wire and unscrew the sensor itself and replace it and plug the new one in.
But you'll need a jack and jack stands, because it is under the car, on the catalytic converter, which is part of your exhaust.

The universal fit ones, yes you have to cut and splice together. If you're dead set on staying OBD2, do that. The second is only there to tell you if the cat is working right. I'd only mess with it once it goes bad. I tried telling my dad this and he didn't get what I was saying, even after complaining how his truck takes 4 sensors at about $50-60 a piece.
