Default MT 24.5X9 or M&H 25X8.7 What tire to get?

My setup now is around 644whp 450Tq. I am having a hell of a time on my 24.5's M&H there is over 100 passes on these tires.

My rims are lenzos. What is going to be the tire of choice here? I am running a ls tranny so Gearing is not an issue (Overallsize).

Any insight? Also who has them?

i have used both, and if it were customer service solely. M and H hands down. previously my pb was with the 25x8.7x13 Mand H. i had to know myself wether the micky t was better or not.

well switching to them, we got our first 9 out of the car. 24.5x9x13

thats my insight.

I think we can all agree that new, both tires work extremely well. In my experience with both, the M&H's fell off hard after about 5-6 passes (one weekend). The MT's would start to fall off after about 10-12 passes. At the end of the day, any tire is going to be shot with 100 passes on it. The just don't work that well after 15-20 passes period.

I know a couple people that have been using this size. They were discontinued awhle back due the NHRA rules limiting to 9" wide, but since that rule is gone, the tires are back again.

Brian, arent you on vacation? Get off HT man! LOL.

Joe, we had good luck with the 8.7's on Floyds car. In your situation the 9.5's might be a better choice. Either way -- M&H

I am going to have to hit john on for some 24.5X9.5's

I thought I seen someone had talked about those but I couldent find them.

Falling off after 5 passes is Crazy! How can anyone afford that!!!

No one said going fast was cheap!!

They are both proven tires. I run the M&H because John has come through for us alot of times. I normally change out my tires every event, so you having over 100 passes on yours...any of them will be much better!

Ya, it states 25"x9" max for FWD. I would PM Jason Miller and find out.

Dont mean to thread jack but is there anyway to treat the slicks so that it will bring back life after 10 passes. I believe formula one does this. Thanks.

People mis-understand that "math" of buying new tires. you're not out the entire amount in this scenario. You get to sell your old 5-10 pass slicks, for likely within $50-$80 of what you paid. So it's not that you're out a complete pair of slicks (which would suck), you're out say $50-$80 to upgrade every other race day to the freshest rubber... if that's your bag. You're not out $300-$400.

I've got what I counted as 30 passes on my 24.5's (and some light street driving), Still producing decent numbers at the track, and they're now "hand me downs" to my street car.
