Default Ecu question d16y7

Ok. So I have pretty much everything I need for my manual swap. I have a d16y7 and Im going to go with the d16y8 ex tranny and y8 intake manny/y8 TB/2 wire iacv. I am going to be boosting my car in the spring and I need an obd1 ecu. Would a manual p06 run my d16y7 for the time being until I boost then I will chip it. Or should i get a p28? If I get the p28 I will be running badly because of the ecu being vtec. Am I correct? Is there any other options I could go with to run my car untill the spring without chipping the ecu and disabling vtec?

stick with te p28 chipped.
you will be getting a CEL for the
Vtec solenoid. but it wont run like
crap IF you get it tuned.

I had a stock p06 with my d16y7 and it worked good, no cels. and i now i have it with a gsr. Only diff. is v-tec conversion and socket-chip from phearable. essentially now i have chipped p28 only diff. is little id tag on ecu. It was alot cheaper than spending like $200 bucks on an chipped p28 that i could make for like $60.
