Mini-Me swap ECU
I've figured out that im gonna do the mini-me swap in my 98 coupe. Anyways, i have researched just about every component that im gonna be throughin in there. But i have one last question. I was wondering which ECU i should be runnning on the new motor? And is there any aftermarket ECU that would deliver nice power?

Re: Mini-Me swap ECU (IwantmyEG)
Only a chipped P28...but that would require an OBD1 conversion. Which head are you running? Y8? If so you'll need a P2P ecu...and make sure if you have auto the ECU is auto if you have manual the ECU is manual.

Re: Mini-Me swap ECU (BauleyCivic)
Why does the P28 have to be chipped? Will a normal P28 work just fine for the mini-me? Just curious because that is what I am running on my similar setup and it idles rough at cold start up and I still don't think it is running 100%.

Stock P28 will work fine. For an ECU upgrade though u need a chipped P28. Mine idle's high at startup...and if i start driving immediately when i stop the idle will bounce around a bit, but i'm not worried about it. What exactly do you mean its not running 100%?

Re: Mini-Me swap ECU (BauleyCivic)
I have had many problems throughout the whole process, but it is really lacking power in 5th gear on the highway and will sometimes throw an O2 sensor code. I just recently moved the O2 from the cat up to the primaries of the header thinking it would help but no such luck.I also disconnected my EVAP purge because it works different between OBD1 & 2. I am thinking about replacing the O2 sensor to see if that fixes it but I have a feeling it wont because the O2 worked fine in my Y7 when I was OBD2b. Sorry if it seems that I am jacking the thread.
