1983 Civic 1.3L Auto Carb probs
Any advice on what could be the problem or how to fix it?
Its hard to start on a cold morning, wont take choke or any gas from pedal? when it its running and u try and give it some gas it stalls, also when driving it stalls or hesitates really bad when given some gas?
Dirty carb?
Fuel lines dirty?
Fuel filter?
couldn't find much help in the Haynes troubleshooting guide.

I work with carb's daily.
sounds to me like its just dirty, or running too rich.
when a carb motor stalls out when you give it gas, that usually means its getting too much gas, aka too rich.
Heres what you should try
1: run some carb cleaner through the barrels.
2: get a FULL tank of gas, and add some sea-foam to the gas.
3: adjust Carb Floats.
4: Lean it out a little
6:if nothing else, just pull the carb, rebuild\clean really good. and slap it back on.

carb are evil straight from satan, but i've had the misfortune of having to work on many 86-89 accords.
assuming you've done the obvious vacuum hose checks...
-first thing would be to get some cleaner and clean all the sides off. then use it to check for leaks around the base and throttle shaft.
-then i would check the accel pump on the side. those rubber diaphragms leak all the time as the gas softens them.
-last of course would be to just take the thing off. those older ones have less lines and crap in the way and pulling it apart and tossing it in a chemdip + blowing out every passage will do wonders. just be careful of tiny *** o-rings and tearing paper gaskets.
oh and my bosses old tricks, since he has been doing those things much longer than me..
on the dist, flip #1 and 3 wires. give it some strong wot revs and make it back fire. it often works to clear the carb.
another way is to redline it, then (with the air filter housing off) put your hand over the carb throat. the extra vacuum as it winds down can suck the jets and passages clear.

Personally I think carbs are very easy to work with, and i didnt know 86-89 accord had carbs all the ones ive seen are FI. at least, all american models which are CA5's are Fuel Injected.
86-89 accords came in DX, LX, and LXi. only LXi was FI.
the reason you don't see carb anymore is cuz everyone got sick of finding parts and fixing them over and over again.
same with 2gen and 3gen ludes. very few of those side draft cars left on the road.

Dropped the petrol tank and cleaned it, and replaced fuel filter both were dirty, put some additive and leaded petrol in it and was going good, now its back to how it was after one day!
Going to check plugs and leads next.....still has hesitation when cold but when hot and on a good day drives good?
