rear axel fitment question
brought my car in to a shop to get the rear brakes changed and they said that I have a bent rear axel .. I havent check it out yet since my car is slammed as low as it gets but just checking with the ASE cert. guys on here since thats not my area, just a hobby. So if there is no rear axel on a accord .. what could be bent?
Accords are not RWD or AWD, no axle back there.
Either way I wouldn't suggest taking your car back to that shop. They (at least that mechanic) sound like morons or are trying to make you the moron and pay them for something that doesn't exist.
*edit*
It could be a lower control arm or trailing arm. But I doubt it.

for general use that term works fine. but when speaking specifically about cars it can get confusing. the common understanding in the automotive community is that axles are rotating shafts that transmit power to the wheels. when you use the same word to describe a wheel that recieves no engine power... see where i'm going?
the more apropriate term in this instance would be hub or wheel bearing (...if we're still talking center of wheel rotation)

in the OPs case, with the wording given i would have to guess either they meant to say bent control arm or bad wheel bearing. both could ruin an alignment. i would agree with what seems to be the consensus that it's most likely a bent control arm.
i was more so responding to the statement i quoted rather than the main topic. it looked like you had already cleared that up with your first responce.
right, i could only imagine what a bent bearing would even look like...haha

I have an inkling doing the ghetto rotor replacement in the front where the bearing is torn apart could bend it hahah.
Current front wheel drive cars have "floating axles" on the front. meaning the weight of the car does not rest on the axle. It rests on the roller bearing. The same is with floating axles on 18 wheel tractors.
haha. i have seen a front LCA on a CB7 bent around like a candy cane from a wreck. i should have held on to that when i replaced it...
