Default obd1 p72 running 94 d16z6,,,,,,,,

pulls alot better than the p28, but engine light comes on. I'm assuming its trying to open the plenum butterflies? had it sitting around so thought I would try it. haven't had a chance to check what code its kicking. would be cool to make it work cause it pulls alot harder. much more fun to drive. any thoughts?

butterflies are just solenoid activated... no code from that.

knock sensor maybe, can't remember if d16z6s have them or not *shrug*

I'll have to check the code today, but if it is knock sensor(which I know my motor doesn't have,) is there a way around that so it doesnt' set a code?

It makes no sense when you say that a DOHC vtec ECU (p72) would pull harder than a SOHC vtec ECU (p28) on a SOHC engine. I suppose your pulling the sohc up to 8200 RPMs aswell? Not good.

Do your motor a favour and put back the P28. Get a chip for it if you want.

first by running GSR ecu on a d16z6 you will be getting a knock sensor code, with that on the ecu goes into a "safe" mode and tends to run rich and less timing. I doubt its making more power unless the motor is really inneed of extra fuel

to avoid the code simply wire a knock sensor and be done with it.
