Default DC5 supercharger vs. turbo suggestions!

Hi all,

So my couzin has a 03 DC5 and is interested in getting some boost and being the family tuner her asked me for some info so being a nissan guy i turn to you guys the experts!

So as the title states supercharger or turbo i am looking for info from anyone who has done either of these and thier pros and cons of each. Also if anyone knows of any good quality "kits" available for either upgrade!

I had a friend who put a supercharger in his DC5 and had huge problems with snapping belts and just fitment in general so i am leaning toward the turbo personally but like i said im not a big honda guy so correct me if im wrong.

Thanks any and all opinions appreciated!

i'd say a supercharger would be better if your buddy isn't a big do it yourself guy; it's easier to install and just had less parts to it. a turbo would give you more power but it costs more and is more complex.

If it was me, i'd turbo it... Supercharger would be better for daily driving, but then again turbos produce way more power and have a sick bov sound... superchargers just have an annoying whine... I hear some people do both... Instant response from the supercharger and high power from the turbo... Your choice...

I've never seen a compound charged four cylinder...sounds like a rolling grenade.

HKS created a twin-charged Integra back in the day.

Please search noob, the "turbo vs. supercharger" debate has been beaten to death.

On the Type-S, expect to make 350-400whp with ease with a well-built turbo kit. If you get a supercharger, expect about 300whp. Seeing as it's not your car and they are looking to you for help, I'd recommend the blower just for simplicity purposes. You don't want someone owning a turbo car that doesn't know what they are doing.

coming from owning a dc5 and having been on both setups.. Just depends on what kinda power goals you want and what you wanna do with the car... Drag? Top end hwy pulls? Road racing? Dig races? Etc.. Both can be super relability for daily driving depending on parts and install.. And your budget..
Either way, you will need hondata kpro.. Supercharger, go with jackson racing. Turbo, go with peakboost hands down...

Supercharger (Jackson/Comptech):
-quick boost
-easier install
-you can still keep many other bolt-ons
-300whp with other mods, well over 300whp w/ some type of cooling, but I haven't seen anyone hit the 350whp mark with one yet. Good power band though

Turbo: I've heard no one makes them as well as full-race, but they cost a small fortune.
Money no option a twin-scroll full race turbo kit is about as good as it gets. They drastically change in whp potential depending on the turbo you get with the kit.

IMO: turbo>supercharger if I had tons of money, but I'd go with a supercharger if I had a dc5 because I don't need ridiculous hp and the supercharger has plenty of potential.

Honestly, maybe I spoke too soon because I have never heard or experienced anything having to do with them. Maybe if you decide to try it out, definitely post a review...

Some of the responses in here really make me want to leave this section forever. There are many debates just on this forum alone regarding which route an individual should take. If you are looking for personal experience and opinions, unfortunately I do not see much of that happening in this thread. Many false statements and invalid opinions with no supporting references.

On a side note, some of you had great responses.
