Default stock b16+boost?

I have a stock jdm b16a and want to turbo it. My power goals are anyting from 250-275whp. I was looking at turbo kits and they are just so damn expensive. would it be cheaper to buy a turbo kit or just piece a turbo setup together? Also will my power goals be achiveable and reliable on stock interals, it going to be driven everyday and i just want to to be very reliable and powerful at the same time if thats possible. Thanks for you help.

I think the saying goes as such

Cheap, fast, reliable. You can only pick two of them.

it should be cheaper if you piece it together thats why people piece it together lol....and yea you should have no problem aslong as you have a good tuner and your b16 is in good running condition...you should be able to piece a kit together for around 1500 for a nice kit just look around they have a thread in faq about this look it up before you ask again

good luck

piece it together, stay away from ebay turbos and maniflods.ebay intercoolers are worth wild. you wont need to waste money on a fuel pressure regulator or fuel rail. 550cc injectors or in that range, 255 pump and chipped ecu with a good tune are paramount. DONT use a fmu. I went with the same hp range and b16. this is what i picked with the same price range as you.
t3/t4E 50trim .63 a/r 5 bolt turbo, $600
blox manifold $200.ebay
ebay bov $50.00
tial wg $200.
PTE injectors $250.ebay
walbro pump $100.ebay
chipped ecu from phearable $75.
get tuned $200.-400.
wideband (good idea to moniter your afr) $200.
ebay fmic and pipes $175.
ebay oil lines $45.00
custom downpipe $50.00

with a tune it's a little more but makes for a reliable DD, without a tune its not worth ****
good luck n have fun

How reilable has both your setups been? Wow thats not a price tag for that setup. Wouldnt have to upgrade more systems like ignition and intake? why no fpr and fuel ive been told they are kinda a must have?

stock ignition works great until 400+ hp. Intake manifold would keep you out of your price range and only give you small increase unless you add bigger throttle body but then your price tage gets even larger and that would only be bennifical if you have motor work done. FMU (fuel management unit) adds a certain ammount of fuel per lb of boost, its a cheap way to boost a honda. Not reliable because you need to adjust your ignition also. bigger injectors wont work without a chipped ecu, and you NEED bigger injectors b/c the stock ones already run at 90 some % on stock motor wot. fuel pressure regulator and fuel rails are not needed for your hp goals. Stock will deffenitly work just fine. bigger injectors, and bigger pump with a good tuned chipped ecu is all you need. Well some NGK colder plugs are a must too. my first setup was a ebay(SSautochrome) turbo KIT. manifold and turbo only lasted 2 months. This setup is a good pick of parts, you can score good deals on name brand parts of ebay, if its made in china stay away from it. garrett is the turbo i went with

The first and the third kit look decent but.. BUT.... you dont want those turbos, your best bet is to buy one that has the most complete ic piping, (not too many couplings, longer pipe lengths) and sell the junk turbo it comes with and buy a legit turbo from somewhere like www.cheapturbos.com, also check out the couplings and make sure they arent just cheap plastic, if they are go get some silicone reinforced ones either at a local shop, or off-line, and remember everything they said above about fuel (injectors, pump etc.) if u dont get these then it will break indefinatly.. a wideband sensor & gauge is expensive but probably one of the best monitors you can have to make sure u dont lean our ur mixture and go Boom per say... u can get a aem uego for like 399.00 or used for like 300.. hope this helps, good luck !

Ok well did some more researching around and found a few things. I know ill need bigger injectors, pump and ecu at minimum. But for my power goal which size should I run and impedance? also do i need a resistor box? And will a chipped p28 work with my jdm b16a gen 2 w/ a p30 currentley in it and what kinda socket type should i use ? OK so here is where what my researching found so far let me know what you guys think?

Don't cheap out on the blow off valve dude. If anything search craigslist or forums for a good used one. Turbo surge will kill both your turbo and the motor.
