It's 50* outside and my heater is broken
I turned on my heater for the first time in 4 months and it doesn't work
The hottest is when the car is warmed up, I turn it on, it blows a little hot for 2 seconds then goes to lukewarm air.
I filled up the coolant, noticed that my resevoir was empty. However it was still not blowing hot air. I've had this leak on the passenger side, it's really wet underneath the carpet. Might this have something to do with it? Where is the heater core located? Car doesn't overheat, etc runs just fine.

core is located behind the dash on the passenger side. it sounds like it might be leaking. it's possible that it's clogged also. might explain why its hot at first then gets lukewarm. check the valve that allows coolant into the car to see if it's opening up all the way.
Cool thanks. Where is this valve at? I have a 1991 civic if I haven't mentioned it yet.
Is the heater core hard to get to, big job to replace? Do I need to drain coolant and stuff before replacing?

both hoses going to the firewall are hot
longer hose is hotter than the short one.
Upper rad hose is hot, lower rad hose cool. That's what I got from checking it right now. Whatever's leaked in my car doesn't seem to be antifreeze though

unfortunately it is a pain in the dick to replace. you have to drain the coolant and you have to pull the dash out.
valve is located near the firewall above the trans.
with climate control at its hottest setting it should look like this

at its coldest should look like this

Well I mean I did just turn the car on, but the upper was really hot already so idk? My car doesn't overheat though, so I don't see how it could be the thermostat
