Default possible to loose almost half the psi

ok so i have a question someone can agree with me on. i have my line hooked up straight from the turbo housing to the wastegate as tial recommended. Inside i have a large yellow spring said to be 10 psi. Now im only reaching about 5 psi to my intake manifold. Is it possible i lost half the amount of boost as air goes to through my 2.5 intercooler and piping? I hope you guys say yes because it would make me feel better. It would be an easy fix just to get a stronger spring or route it after the tb.

Thanks

If you are only getting 5PSI, on a supposed 10PSI spring it could be a couple things.

You gauge could be wrong? Double check with a known working gauge.

The spring is actually 5PSI

you have a boost leak.

Sounds like a boost leakie issue to me. Other than the small pressure drop across the intercooler, the way its hooked up works fine.

yea make sure the gauge is working correctly, and make sure there are no leaks.

Also, just to throw it out there, my car was reading 20psi on the gauge, but just wasn't boosting last week @ the track. Upon inspection of the setup, the bolts on the intake housing of the turbo actually backed out and loosened themselves up, like you would do to clock the turbo. So the turbo was still spooling and reading psi on gauge, but that was b/c the turbo was spooling harder to compensate for the leak, which was HUGE btw. Tightened em back up, and full boost blowin the doors off again.

Also, check the gate and make sure you didn't pinch the diaphram, very common issue.

If i pinched the diaphram then i would get a lot of boost cause it wouldnt open right? I mean im getting good 6 psi of boost. Ill recheck all my clamps and couplers again. If i connect a line from intake mani to wastegate and get like 10 psi of boost them should i just leave it that way or get like a 13 psi spring and leave it from comp. to wg.

I never take boost from the turbo. I always use the vacuum source from the intake manifold.
