1991 RS Power Steering issue (searched)
Hey i went through about 7 pages of search results but didnt find a definitive answer.
My power steering works intermittently, more so mostly i dont have power assist. I heard a clicking when i turn the steering wheel at a standstill and it is very hard to make it turn, sometimes after one of these clicks the power assist will come on for a brief moment but stop as soon as i stop turning the wheel. my pump was replaced, used from a g2ic member, and my belt is new. my fluid is like red so its not clear like the honda fluid i just bought but it was working fine before all this happened.
i tried the tensioner tight or loose it doesnt make a difference.
the clicking sounds closer to me than it does the engine. On a couple occasions, after muscling it and getting to a click sound the wheel automatically flung itself in the direction i was turning it until it was turned fully, if this helps at all.
Fluid is not leaking its at a good fill height, belt is nice and snug, pump is in good shape.
the belt i had before DEFF needed replacing. it was cracked and breaking and the belt made a noise when i started up thats how i knew, in conjunction with the steering issue. but when i switched it, it worked fine for like ten minutes now this.
Anybody? this has become one huge pain in the butt and i cant figure it out
