Wiring in Walbro with direct power and relay?
Ok, sorry guys to have to ask this, but the FAQ's turned up nothing. The search function has been total crap since H-T was redone (maybe thats just me though).
Anyways I found a great thread not too long ago, but since lost the link. Basically my battery is in the trunk already and I want to do a direct wiring to the pump to avoid using the very small guage wire in the stock harness. I have seen it done before and many say the pump operates 2 times better with the larger guage wiring (more amp flow)
So can someone help me here? Just kind of need a quick diagram or pic.
Should I be looking at running a 40amp relay and fuse off the battery? Too much?

what you should do is find the wire that goes into your fuel pump to turn it on... then run a spdt relay. on your relay, use 85 as the wire from the fuel pump, and run a ground wire to 86. that will activate the coil when the ecu sends a signal to the fuel pump. then run a 12v wire to 30 and then the wire to your fuel pump will connect to 87. if you have a spdt relay just look at the numbers and hook it up the way i said. i'd draw you a picture but i don't have time at the moment. good luck
ok great info guys. i appreciate it.
what size fuse would i need to run inline with the pumps power wire (battery to pump)? I don't feel comfortable without running one. also what amp rating for the relay? i know they sell those cheap kind but they are only rated to 30A. Should I look for a "heavy duty" relay? something like 40A?

A Walbro doesnt draw much "juice", just use a Bosch Relay from your local Auto Parts store, I used 2 small inline fuses (forget rating, not very high I am thinking 30A) and never had an issue with 2 pumps.
I'd just use a 30A relay and put in a 7.5A or a 10A in-line fuse. I think the pump runs on the 7.5A fuse. If you really wanted to get trick then use a junkyard relay for OEM reliability and pin the wires in for your setup. booyah!
