Icon2 help on how to replace evaporator unit on a 92 civic + few more questions AC related

thanks for taking time to see my post. well, the questions I have are: after evacuating the system propertly; Can I just pull out the old evaporator unit and install the new one, or do I need to replace the AC Receiver Drier and other parts? the reason im replacing is because the old evaporator had a hole on it. after replacing the evaporator, I think I have to replace the condenser too, because when I bought the car It didnt have the belt on it so I asume it wasnt working propertly thats why they removed it or it might've just snaped so I have to see if it works, so my other question is, how do I check if the condenser works?

For clarity, I made two obvious corrections in your text. Evacuating the system is the last step before recharging. The compressor not the condenser has a belt. The evaporator is behind the glove box, whereas the condenser sits next to the radiator.

Anytime the A/C system is opened, you need to replace the receiver/dryer. I don't know how you would confidently test the compressor without recharging the system to see whether it works. When all damaged components are replaced, then you need to flush the system of debris, evacuate and leak test, and recharge.

thank you for clarifying I was hoping you would help me with these since youve help a lot of people before including myself, so. definetly I need to replace the condenser, can I just take out the old one and replace with the new one; then get new receiver/dryer, and install it. and then get a belt for the compresor, evacuate and leak test the system, then recharge to see if the compresor works or not. would you recomend that? and if the compresor doesnt work, well thats a whole new topic, thanks again

Yes to all; however, the first step might be to try turning the compressor pulley and clutch by hand just to see if they turn freely. If not, you might already have a hint that the compressor is bad. You probably should also flush the system prior to evacuation to eliminate debris that could interfere with proper operation. Depending on your expertise, you may want to have a shop drain, flush, evacuate, and recharge the A/C system for you.
