sparkplugs damage pics from over advanced timing I thinK?
slowing going through my car since I got it back from the swap and finding more things wrong with it.
I knew I have a problem in the distributor area because of the code 9 cel, but when I checked the timing it was 60 degrees off.
I had to remove the distributor and reposition it because its only lines up with one bolt hole to get the timing set right, but still have the cel.
sparkplugs 1 and 4 were hammered

sparkplugs 2 and 3 faired better

The car seem to drive fine with the sparkplugs like that go figure.
I'll be replacing them today with a colder set.

You fried those nicely!
There's a lot of pages to be found when searching the net for "spark plug reading".
Decent picture page - there are many

Looks like you are using the platinum plugs with the skinny electrode.
Not that's it's necessarily bad, but any reason in particular you don't use standard copper type?

The right ones in NGK would have been zfr6j-11, but the autoparts store had none in stock so I went with some autolite double platinum app5224.
Now that the timing is set closer to specs I should not have this problem again.
