Quick distributor timing question [pics]
One of the cylinders on my car are missing, and I think it might be the distributor timing. I looked at it and it looks like its all the way advanced, is it supposed to be this way? Is there any way to adjust this without a timing light?
sorry the picture is kinda blurry, but this is looking at one of distributor bolts

if its a stock motor oem timing will be right about the middle, best thing you can do is get a timing light and do it the proper way, you wont know by just moving it around. also i dont think that would really attribute to your cyl missing, check the plugs and wires, i never had an issue with timing causing that problem.

Get a timing light and fix it. Cant you rent one from autozone, use it for 5 seconds and give it back. I think its free too.

Same thing happened on my friend's car. His distributor was all the way advanced. It ran like **** and somettimes hardly started. Turned it to the middle and started her right up.
Get a timing light and set it to spec.

You can't gauge by looking at the dizzy where stock timing is, it depends on the cam timing. Most motors are slightly different. Use a timing light so you can get 16 degrees BTDC. What kind of motor is it?

must be looking at something else, Most CIVIC's have always been 16 +/- 2 degrees.
