I just put in a trans in my 95 hatch. I got in started the car and bled the slave. got a stiff pedal and then put car in gear (while still in the air no tires) first nothing then I realized somethin is wrong. no movement in any gear. also I can shift with the car running no clutch and it doesnt grind. wtf happened. I later realized drivers axle is out about 1/4 to 1/2" but i would thing it would grab a little with no weight and spin. what about the no grind issue...
please help just got trans after 6 months and still cant drive the car.

 

Push the axle in and put the car on the ground. Did you have the trans apart? Bench test it before putting it in?

 

bench test? never had trans apart.

 

i would say the clutch,flywheel, throw out bearing

 

might have the wronge clutch in the car

 

all I am replacing is the d series trans everything else worked (clutch and axles) with the old transmission.

So its either the trans or the person who put it in.

Have you done any trouble shooting yet?

 

need to get back out there. I put it in an put the clutch in about 7 months ago and all was fine till trans went out. put this one in and having issues. I am going to check spinning wheels and a little clutch pedal adjustment maybe that will helpl if not Im gonna have to pull it out and make sure my shift fork, throw out, and pressure plate are good, I just hope the trans is not at fault.

 

this happened to me, i had to buy a new tranny....

 

You say it wouldn't go into gear but when the car is on, you can shift into the gears? That's without the clutch as well with no grinding. Can you hear the shift forks moving when you shift?
