speedmeter is off
my friend just bought a 98 civic ex and the speedometer reading is off. for example, going 60mph, it will read 75 MPH and also the odometer and trip meter does not work but everything else does. Before spending money on a new used speedo, i want to make sure that it is the cluster that is broken, not some other sensor or reading unit
just like 90 rex said, in order to get the right reading you need to have the stock rims/ tires or something similar to OEM size, having over/under size rims/tires will give you a different readings example= if ur car comes with 16" and you put some 14" rims with low pro tires, your reading will be faster than what you are actually going.
anyways.
dont use the police speed trap cuz they go wack once in a while. and dont compare your car with ur buddy's riced-out civic cuz he may have a bad reading too.

i am using my garmin gps which is about as accurate as it gets.
for sure i know the speedo is off because, when i shift from 1 to 2 at 3k rpms, the speedo is reading at 25-30mph already...
the car is rolling on 14 inch steelies
