H22 wont go into 1,3,5 gear
I have a 99 EX with an H22A from a 94. Lately its been having trouble going into 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears. It'll go into the spot, but whenever i let out of the clutch, it'll grind so i'll quickly press the clutch in. Most days I end up having to pull out in 2nd. But after driving, it'll sometimes be fine. Like i'll go from 2nd into 3rd and it'll go right in.
I bled the clutch slave cylinder, and added new fluid. Didnt really help.
I zip tied the cables together like every 3-4 inches.
Any idea on what this could be?

Cables are stretching. I had a H22 GSR that did the same thing. Its not the outer parts that you see, but the braided cables inside the sheaths.
The gears arent always gone though. If i put in in gear and take it out repeatedly, it'll finally start to feel like it goes in gear and it does. Its really weird. I've been looking for new cables, just incase they are stretched, but they are hard to find in this area.

its cables for sure man. i had the same exact problem with my ej7/h22 coupe. i had actually bought a whole new tranny only to find i still couldnt use 1,3,5. thats when i new it was cables. i went and picked up some accord cables for like 25 bucks and problem was solved. cables were bent cuz i use to shift way too forcefully. go easy on the cables and route them to the tranny as straight as possible with minimal bend.
a lot of you are screaming the cables. its probably his damn syncro's. My third gear drops like hell since the syncro is COMPLETELY gone. Only way to keep my motor in 3rd is to stay on the gas. 1 second off the throttle and it pops off and grinds.
I say new tranny or tranny rebuild. BigBlock22 makes a good point, but if its not that, its probably your syncro's. Get some cheepy cables. Also, when you speed or race, learn to double clutch, and don't worry about forcing your shifter into gear. If you double clutch, it goes in easier. Also, by shifting softly while double clutching, you don't have to worry about stretching or bending your cables. Hope this helps.

ended up being the cables... Whenever the swap was done, the cables werent ran correctly. had like a 90 degree turn so it stretched and frayed the inside out. replaced them and re-ran them correctly. shifts smooth as butter, stays in gears, no grindage
i had the same problem with my swap a few months back hah!
