Switching ECU's for inspection
Concerning going OBD2-OBD1 what needs to be done prior to inspection? Is it just the actual ECU that needs to be switched out? I've read that the car has to be driven for 50 miles with the original ECU in order for it to be read. Is this true? If so, isn't there a risk of running a FI setup on the stock ECU for that 50 miles?
I do this with my car every year.
I put the stock map sensor, stock injectors and both stock O2 sensors back in. Then put the stock ecu in. I drive it to the inspection station.. they plug it in and it passes. In PA you can pass with 2 not ready faults, atleast on a 96-98.

stay out of boost and you'll be fine.
it depends on the state you're in, some states don't care about readiness flags, some do.
Here in IL, all flags have to be cleared, so you have to drive the car for a day or two on the OBD2 ECU.
