Will this turbo/motor setup yield me 450+ and a 10sec pass?
I want to know if this setup will yield me 450whp+ and a 10sec pass(I'm asking if the car will be capable, I know it depends a lot on driver). And if u can please help me identify my turbo. The markings on the turbo are "m33; a/r .60 on the turbo side. and as for the compressor side, the marking on that is 20357." I was told that the compressor a/r was .48. What "trim" is it? is it a t3/t4? I also wanted to know if the intercooler pictured will hold up well for my goals? it would be nice if u can help me identify what intercooler this was too. thanks in advance.

450+ is asking a lot of that turbo. It's a Turbonetics, but as to the size, that I don't know, the pictures aren't clear enough to tell.
For the intercooler, who knows.. it could be custom, it could be eBay junk. Best thing to do is find some one who can pressure test it to see if the core leaks at all.

No way for us to defiantely tell you what that is without measuring the compressor and turbine wheels, but at first glance it looks prety small...... why build that motor to the level that it is and then go and use old turbo stuff? Do I see alot of oil in the hot side of the turbo?
weird....looks like its a garrett on the cold side and then turbonetics on the hott side? both are different companies. never seen that before, maybe cuz i'm still a newbie when it comes to turbo.
also, your block is sleeved so you can boost pretty high. your intercooler definetly looks big enough to hold that power but gotta get it tested to see if theres any leaks.

for those who may ask why i'm running this outdated turbo on my nice motor setup. the reason i'm doing this is because i'm spending every penny i have and that meant either a nice motor setup/alright turbo or a stockish motor/nice turbo and i went the route with the nice motor because it would run safe and later down the line, its a lot easier to switch out turbos then change blocks.

If it is .48 ...... that car will be choked up like all hell if it even makes it to 400whp, that is way to small of a turbine housing for your power goals IMO, .63 minumum
FyI it should be stamped on the housing......

yea, i agree. if you do see 400 out of it im sure the life span of it would be greatly shortened... also, unless im terribly mistaken wouldnt the chances of detonation increase with the super hot air coming out of that turbo because of it working so hard??
more opinions before i wait it out and save up for a sc61. pondering the idea since i really wanna do it ONE time only instead of doing this and not reaching my goal and have to go bigger later.
Well, you're going from One extreme to the other going with an SC61. We understand that 400whp is your goal, but perhaps you need to understand HOW the power comes in with the other equipment that you already have. Such a big turbocharger isn't necessary if the point is to get a nice broad powerband that can work for you from 3000-8000rpms. An Sc61 is a good unit, but the powerband is VERY peaky in comparison.. even with your build. It has a "light switch" powerband that doesn't reach maximum pressure until about 4700rpms on the GS-r with that compression, and though it makes power to higher rpm levels, you'll be fighting to control the car a bit more than actually enjoying it.
My point is, look to other options before you go from the smaller turbo to a HUGH one in comparison

everybody has good points but im still a new guy to the game! i have a turbonetics t3/t4 on mine and that is the size that yours looks like. but as far as the turbonetics on cold side and garrett on hot side i cant tell you! maybe sumone frankensteined it for sum reason!
He's not looking to add water lines to that system, I'm sure.. he simply needs a replacement. A journal bearing can do that job for a bit less cost.
thought i'd update this thread. plans have changed. i'm buy a friends sc61 kit. i got this whole turbo kit and gsr longblock for 1700!! pm me if you're interested, located in the bay. will work out a deal for those who actually have cash on hand.
