h22t went to the dyno..had some issues
went to kenetic motorsports to get my prelude tuned. I was told my map sensor wasnt working down low so they had to put in a 3 bar and it worked fine. the tuner said at 10lbs it made 267whp but when he turned up the boost the turbo died.something about the bearings. so i ordered a new garrett t3/t4 60 .63 for $550. Good people at reflex tunning for hooking me up with the turbo. my question is is that good power before it blew? also why would a new map senor not work down low (xencron)
t3/t4 60 .63
log manifold
650cc
3.5 cut out (dont know if he opened it or not)

What turbo did you have before? Why not get a better one? On a good log setup you should aim for around 285-300whp @ 10psi. Once again this all depends on the rest of the setup too. At the rate you were going it looks like you would have made around 360-370whp on pump gas which really isn't uncommon on log h setups.

Make sure they are reputable tuners, my friend blew $5k on a turbo'd m3 because the tuners told him all kinds of bs so that they could do more work. If the map sensor is from xenocron and made for ur car, they shouldn't have any problems with it's operation. (You only have to change one thing on the chip).

sounds good guys. thats what i was shooting for HP. Nothing crazy..something fun. I had a turbonetics turbo. I didnt want to upgrade because i didnt want to redue every that i just dide. ie:dp,wg dump and ic piping.
I was told that i could get the same size turbo and it will bolt right in. is that true? im going from turbonetics to a garrett...same specs. I justhope it bolts in correctly.

great!! thats been my issue
now the turner said he was going to tune with my ecut closed since thats how i would drive most of time. would that be right? i would think he would do it with it open then when i close it, it would run a bit richer. correct?

Tune it with the cutout OPEN. If you tune it closed, it will run a bit lean when you run it open. If you had something like ectune, you could do both since it has dual maps.
What brand sensor is it? You made a reference to xenocron - a DIY xeno model, or a prefabed Omni unit from Xeno? The DIY version may not have been sealed right, otherwise the Omni's work great. The only other reasons I could guess the MAP sensor doesn't work is because "they saw you coming", and/or they had a base tune for their 3bars they didn't want to change. In that case, a 3bar from them would conveniently make their job easier, as well as line their wallets. There are more than a few tuners that get a couple base maps that make decent power, then they just tune the AFR's. I could show you one example where a local shop cracked the sleeves on a 365whp B16 because they tuned for AFR's not for knock, since the shop & owner didn't know it had an 11:1 CR, rather than the 9:1 the owner was told. I hate to say your shop guys are bad people, but unfortunately it happens in the business every day. People who don't know much about their parts, such as you, are prime targets.
BTW were you there when they were tuning it? A "dead" turbo would start smoking profusely, usually from too much oil pressure ruining the seals. Garretts usually require a ~.060" restrictor with a B-series motor.

Re: h22t went to the dyno..had some issues
i know about my parts. ive built the car from the ground up. i thought it was weird they replaced my new map sensor. but it does make 100% sence that they would put the 3bar because of their stored maps. as for the log im keeping it. its a street car, not looking for 450whp. as for the shop its called kenetic motorsports (hampstead NH). I wasnt sure about the turbo before i brought it to them. it had some play. when i got it back the shaft was toast. lots of play. i just bought the same size so i would know things would fit right. where can i get a restrictor? i have a small feed line going to the turbo. not much bigger then a 1/8 i think smaller
i went and picked up the car and brought it to my shop. installed the new turbo and the car idled like poop, really bad throttle response. let it warmed up some and it was a bit better. took it for a test drive and the car falls on its face when in boost. (1-2psi). thought maybe it was the BC and disconnected it, no luck. pulled the plugs and put new ones in and gaped the to *28-30. still no luck. not sure whats wrong. the tuner said it was good for 10psi.
any thoughts

Re: h22t went to the dyno..had some issues
i think i might have found the problem. its with the gap. according to a few people it should be around .020 no .028-.030. that could be my cause right there

Im gapped at .28 running 18lbs.. every car is different your tuner will know where to properly set the gaps.

Sorry but ur tuner sucks bro...I had my h22t tuned with an afc, greddy 20g turbo(smaller than urs) and 450 dsm injectors at 12psi and I already had 330whp at 6k rpms..go somewhere else...!!
