Icon2 Automatic Shortshifter?

I'm wondering if it's possible to cut the shifter in a 98 Civic EX in order for it to be shorter and it still function properly, reason being I hate the height my shift is at, and currently i cant do a swap to a manual, so until then I was thinking this would be a way to ease away the pain that is an auto. Please don't give me any crap about wanting my it shorter, I just want responses that are helpful.

First thing. Have you ever even heard about such a thing? I haven't And people that cut the shifters down should be shot. Obviously you have put very little thought into such a question and done no research on your own.

Shouldn't have bought an automatic.

i'll try to stifle the urge to flame..

your auto shift lever is more than a metal rod with a threaded end for the **** and a pivot point like the manual shifters are. it's a hollow tube with internal linkage for the shift release button to pull it out of park. sometimes this linkage is metal, sometimes it's plastic... i can't remember which yours is, but if you decided to shorten it you would have to get the lengths just right. if not it would work like crap or not at all.

hold out for that manual...

obviously it's not for performance. why bother posting if you're just going to be a jerk about it ? if i want to do it, there must be a reason deemed necessary to ME. that's why it's my question. <whew> had to say that in lieu of the numerous times i see people question others as if they wipe their asses with egyptian cotton toilet paper.

aesthtically speaking, if you had an automatic civic with the spoon sports shift ****, you'd know why i want to shorten it. the thing is too damn long!

yes you can do that but it will take some fab. i did that for my grandam gt
i got a AT shifter from Azone and was straight up and down. button on top. i cut the rod down and cut the middle part also but i left the rod in the middle longer then the metal sleeve that holds it so it sticks out and you can still press it down with spring action still. put the after martet shifter dealy on and wala. dont cut the inside rod down too much

it is possible but its too much of a bother to do it.
just wait till you have about $400 for an auto to manual swap.
maybe cheaper if you can get a good tranny for a low price.

i stopped myself from flaming a noob with a noobish question.

so if you can't get an s15 you'll BUILD the civic

let's start by building legos and shet before you touch anything that can catch fire

as for your shifter get a super heavy **** to help with the new short shifter setup
you'll be shifting faster than your synchros if you do it right

Lets keep this on track. This is a serious question, give him serious answers. Those who post stupid **** will get their posts deleted and points docked. Some people got decent infractions for their repeated postings on here...2 little infractions is all i give...after that you're taking a break. Keep that in mind and dont be an ***.
