Default Buying a Coupe. Sound differences from Hatch?

Im buying a 97 coupe and all ive ever owned is hatchbacks. Kinda worried about what the system is going to sound like in the coupe.

Running a pioneer system except for the sub

Pioneer DEH-P710BT
Pioneer 6 1/2 Premier components
Pioneer 6x9 premier
Pioneer PRS D1200M
Earthquake DBXi-12 1500w

This is all in my hatch right now and it sounds great. But im afraid that the coupe is gonna sound completely different. Should i switch to a Sealed box or stick to a ported box with this setup?

Any suggestions where i should fire the sub? certain direction?

It will probably be a little quieter. Changing your gain on the amp will help. I don't think you should be worried at all. I wouldn't point it at the seats. That's all.

The hatch will have more boomy bass then the coupe. Its easier to make a hatch back boom over a trunk any day. Face the subs towards the trunk will help alot. Also like mention above. adjusting the gains and crossover on the amp will help alot. You could allways build a port thru the back deck enclosure or switch enclosure to meet your taste.

lol, its going to have some kind of rattle, lol. It you are concern about rattle do a port thru. All the base and energy will play right into the car. I have a pic of my sister car we did. Only problem was keeping the rear window in the car from leaking once a year. lol. I think honda had a defect.

This was done years ago. I found the guy who bought it about 2 wweeks ago. It was a trip. He pulled up on the side of me and I seen my shop sticker on it, ha

id like to do that port through design but i get confused figuring out port tuning and frequencies for the box. so im not to sure how to go about that.

The port is just a hole in the rear deck so that the sound can "travel through" instead of being blocked (unless he did it where he basically made the trunk a bandpass box) it would have essentially the same effect as putting one of the seats down...
If you want to get real technical you can get a bandpass box and cut holes in the rear deck and press the ports up to those holes. As long as your deck is thin it would have negligible bearing on the port volume. You wouldn't be able to do this with a regular ported box because the ports (usually) and on the same plane as the sub, and the cone would pound against your rear deck.

The port on the car was tunable. 3 chamber single reflex enclosure. Trunks are over rated! We were still able to put a stroller in the trunk, lol
