Default bogging and shaking problem

the car/engine: 1999 civic dx with a d15b turbo running 7psi on a garett t25 with dsm 450cc injectors stock fuel pump 2.5" exaust y8 intake mani. b18 throttle body etc.

the problem: The car was driving perfect then all the sudden the gas stoped working and the car began to shake as though a noobie manual driver was driving. it went away the car drove perfectly normal again, there was no engine light and no other problems present during the incedents. I happened a few times during my 15-20 minute drive home, BTW The car had just under a quater tank of gas. My thoughts are..
- cap and rotor problem
- spark plug wires
- fuel pump issues
- dirty fuel filter
- injector issues

these are posible things that can be causing the problem and i will go and look at the car now and see if there is anything i can find. I will keep the thread updated and help, thoughts, or experiences would be well apriciated

i have the same problem on my 00 Civic. I took it over to honda shop and they couldnt find anything and of course when the mechanic drove test it, it didnt show any symptoms. So, I'm back to zero and let me know about your findings and I'll do the same. And if anyone out here who had the same experience please help also.
Thanks

will do its pretty obvious to me that its either fuel or spark and most likly fuel because a spark problem would more likly be consistant and not periodic but anyways its dark outside so ill have to look at it tommorow but ill see what i can find

so i seem to be getting good spark and i have fuel pressure, im really thinking its the fuel filter im gonna change it tommorow if not then it could be the injectors but i would think they would either work or not work, the problem is however getting worse today it did it alot and even stalled a couple times and i was stuck after it wouldnt start for a few hours

This is REALLY good to hear.
I took my '97 EX to the local shop/dealership a couple of weeks ago regarding the same issue. Mechanics drove it, checked over the clutch and anything else, couldn't find anything wrong with it. (didn't charge anything, so no loss) I left there thinking it might just be in my head, but it happened again.

SYMPTOMS
  • Idling, it sounds fine, runs fine.
  • Get going and start through the gears, I might hit a 'dead spot' for ONLY A SECOND OR TWO where my RPMs don't go down or up, but the car 'stalls' (almost like putting my foot on the brake a little), then it's back to normal.
  • It might do it just ONCE while I'm driving, and that's it - still, it's enough to notice
  • Seems to happen when I'm driving steady in a particular gear (not revving up to change gears)

Guess I'll have my fuel filter checked/replaced, if all of the above sounds like your situation too.
Thanks,
- Buck

Hey my 90 ef is bogging and then drives fine again do any of you think maybe my timing could be off a tooth? I recently did a head gasket. My distributor was positioned back instead of foward where it was before i took everything apart so I was lagging and took a few to get some speed going now its fine , but its a stock D15b1 and has new plugs n wires but could 1. Timing be off 2. Distributor ****ing up or 3. My injector maybe be clogged and or need to be replaced ?
PLEASE someonelse's point of view would be appreciated Thanks!
