Default No VTEC!! Code 6

So vtec is not working on my obd1 b16 running an obd1 s300 p28 mapped for a stock obd1 p30 b16. The only CEL is Code 6 which is my engine coolant temperature (TW) sensor, but im throwing that code because i broke the connector and havent had time to run to junkyard to pick one up. Why else can VTEC not work?

Fix the ECT sensor connector to eliminate the code.

My guess is that fixing code 6 will solve your VTEC problem.

Well from what i know the ecu has to know that your car is in OPERATING temp in order for VTEC to work. As in warmed up, without the ECT how would it know that
