Default Auto 97 ls trans question!!!!

so when you cut the car on it wont go into gear. (you cant move it at all) and we have to restart the car like 5 times to get it to release. and when we do get it to go into drive it like gets stuck in gears? sometimes it will rev 3rd up to like 5500 before it shifts out and sometimes it dont shift until you let it downshift. any ideads what would cause this? if its a sensor could i get one from autozone or something i would like to have it fixed tomorrow. thx in advance.
