Default b20z or b18b1

info from hmotors

b18b1
145hp, 127tq
7000rpm redline
$750

b20z
146hp, 133tq
6300rpm redline
$750

a friend of mine is looking to replace the busted ls in his da teg and he's considering getting one of these two motors. he will be keeping the stock ls trans. also, if he went with the b20 i believe he would be still running the stock pr4 ecu. now i realize numbers wise they should perform about the same, but i was wondering if anyone with personal experience would suggest one motor over the other.

ah crap. i wasn't paying attention and just saw honda/acura and was looking for a general place to put a question such as this. was going to just throw it in the integra forum but didn't know if i'd get *itched at for putting it there. seeing as how they frown upon comparing motor X to motor Y type of threads. if someone wants to move this to somewhere more appropriate, by all means have at it.

anywhoo, so i see a lot of people are fans of the b20..
i assume the upgraded rod bolts are really only necessary if you're going to be revving it past stock redline? on an ls ecu do these engines make much power past there stock redline? basic logic would suggest not but i mean i don't know a whole lot about these motors. do many people get chipped ecu's with b20 maps to run the engine, or does everyone just use the pr4/p75?

X2 also had both b20 over b18 unless your plan on one day making big power on the motor with a build.
