Default b16a rebuilt trans pops out of 1st

first off, i am not sure if i posted this in the right section. but i just finished rebuilding the trans on my jdm b16a, and now it is extremely hard to put it in first, when it is cold 1st is almost useless. after everything warms up, you have to hold the shifter or it pops out of gear easily. i rebuilt the tranny myself with new syncros and bearings. the tranny stays in all other gears just fine and does not grind

did i do something wrong internally???

do i need to adjust the shift linkage???

the shift linkage bushings are a little sloppy, could this be the problem???

Is it cable or hydraulic? Bushings wouldn't be a bad thing to try out and see if the shift linkage looks like it's still on well

There is no adjusting the shift linkage.

If it worked before you took the trans apart, then you didn't reassemble it correctly.

got it figured out, going to have to tear it back down this weekend.

for got the space at the very botom of the countershaft. without it, 1st gear slides up and down the shaft a little alowing it to pop out of gear.

number 9 in this pic.

lol. That sucks. But why did you have that off in the first place? It wouldn't have needed removal just to do synchros.

Awesome. No reason not to tear down the stacks when the trans is apart. How else are you going to clean, inspect, and measure everything?

Every trans I do gets completely torn down, even if its just an ISB replace.
