Default Ls vtec...no vtec :(

So I have a 96 ek hatch with an obd 2 ls bottom end...and a obd 1 b16 head (I think using the obd codes is the best way to describe the generations of the engine parts) we did an excelent job piecing together the motor and we followed all the instructions for building a "reliable" ls vtec...so we finally get the motor going and I'm sure you've heard this a million times...the vtec doesn't work...were running the p30 ecu as well as the p30 pistons...the only code that seems to be throwing is the o2 sensor code...a code 41...now can this prevent a car from hitting vtec??? And if so which o2 sensor plug do I use because the harness is obd2 there is two of them...oh and one more thing we used a Gsr obd 2 dizzy on the obd1 head so that the plugs would match the harness...could this effect vtec??? Please help I'm tired of trying to get vtec working on this pos lol

Im just scrolling threw this cant help yea really but you can use the obd2 gsr dist. on the obd1 motor. And no, it wouldnt affect vtec. Are you sure the vtec solenoid is good?

Yes I tested it and heard the click...also I hooked a test light up to the vtec solenoid wire coming out of the ecu and when I hit 5800 rpms the light turned on meaning that the solenoid is recieving power at the correct time
