97 EK with LS Vtec
I've posted on here quite a bit more recently with this car due to the throttle cable question, how it bounced around cuz the cable was from an LS and i needed a GSR one. there was also no bracket so i got a GSR bracket also and its now fixed. I have so much freakin power now im chirpin tires in 3rd gear every time i take off.
anyways i wanted to say thanks to the people that helped me out with this...
my new problem is with the vtec and exhaust system... its an obd2 b18c1 head with an obd1 ecu..just used the conversion harness to make ends meet. BUT im located in cali and have to follow emissions but i dont have a catalytic converter..just straight pipe, and the vtec solenoid isnt wired to anything. since its an obd2 b18 doesnt that mean the vtec needs to read TWO o2 sensors? i know if the ecu is obd2 and the motor is obd2 this is the case but since i used a conversion harness im not sure.
please let me know if i can just get an obd1 cat and hook up one o2 sensor and have the vtec engage or if i need to overly expensive obd2 cat with dual o2 sensors.
thanks,

not sure if this is true, but i heard from various mechanics that if something on the car is obd2 and has vtec, it will need to read both o2 sensors for the vtec to kick in...one sensor is before the cat and one is behind the cat correct?
