Default Si grill

What are you guys doing for your Si grills? OEM or Ebay? I was thinking about getting an OEM but I can't find out if the EX trim ring will work on it.

if you buy like alot of people do it wont fit perfect.
oem will be perfect.

just find a used si gril and have it paint matched,

i'm not sure about the trim ring working or not.

you can pick one up for about $180 for an OEM one, which in my opinion is deffinetely worth it. The cheap ones rarely fit without alot of persuasion and a little customizing. (i know first hand)

Also, the grill is like the front lip. If it looks and fits like **** it is going to make your entire car look like ****. This is why i always try to steer people away from the "type r style" front lips, it's worth it to spend the extra money on the real deal.

OEM all the way.

Do it right the first time, don't deal with having a shitty looking grille and no extra hassle.

The '99-'00 EX trim will not work on an OEM '99-'00 Civic Si grille. If you look in the 6G Trim Differences thread I made you will see this is evident in the photos. Someone on here also tried to make it work recently and it looked like crap.

It's likely it'd cost less to buy a used '99-'00 Si / Type R (same thing) grille than buy a '99-'00 Si grille mesh from Honda anyway.

If you find one with faded black mesh, dye the mesh with trim dye (I hear black Kiwi shoe dye works too).

You can buy on eBay (make sure it's real), from a junkyard (if you're lucky) or on here.

Hondaautomotiveparts.com : under $130 if I remember correctly.

I recently swapped my replica out for an OEM one I found on Craigslist as even the $130 pricetag was over budget for me...

Top=OEM, bottom=eBay type-r replica

Replica:

OEM:

Note: I have yet to acquire the fasteners to attach the bottom of the grill to the bumper (replica had no such option).

New Replica - $25-30 shipped from ebay
Used OEM - $45 shipped from craigslist! Search around! I started looking in surrounding locations as Cleveland had nothing to offer. It's worth the hassle!

No sorry, just put it in yesterday. The fitment is off right now as I have just pieced together my new front end. My retrofits threw everything out of wack a little bit, but I'm having it all flushed this week before it gets paint. Plus, as I mentioned, I do not have the lower fasteners. I checked, and they will make a noticeable improvement.

Welcome to my world. I have been trying to locate a 99-00 Civic climate control around here for months.

I have a replica grille and the worst thing about it is its one piece instead of two. Looks crappy. Also it doesnt screw and clip into the bumper near the bottom, just the top.
