Default More or Less HP with Filter on before the Turbo?

I've heard from some people that the Filter+Piping for the Turbo inlet will "choke" the Turbo and create less HP.

And i've heard from other people that the Filter+Pipe will give more HP because it creates flow to the turbo inlet

Anyone have any dyno charts to compare the power difference between the two?

I think that the pipe will help, but the filter would hurt...though, I know someone that swears up and down that their car was so much slower when their K&N filter fell off...it could've been in a weird position and really blocked the flow...

i wouldn't think that it would yeild more power, but don't quote me on that. However, w/ the addition of the air filter, you can more safely protect debris from entering the turbo.

Dependind on the width of the pipe leading to the inlet, you need a nice wide pipe, if you have a smallish pipe then yes you will notice a difference, and of course for street car you will want a filter, but full on drag cars don't use them.

I was filter-less for a while..... then I put a filter on with some 3" flex tube and a K&N, felt a tad slower, and made things real quiet under the hood..... I have since taken the filter and flex stuff off and just put 2 layers of screen door aluminum mesh on there...... it seems to like that better

I will usually take the filter off the intake pipe when I race. It feels a lot stronger without it. Then again I am running a cheap-*** ebay hotair intake filter so it probably doesnt flow for ****.

Plus you can hear the turbo so much more w/o the filter! Im too nervous to run without one on the street.
