bought a teg off ebay 12 hrs away. needs a brake line replaced! advice?
i bought a 95 4 door ls 5 speed with rims on it for 1100. I have to drive 12 hrs away to get it. The seller had informed my that it needs a new hard brake line to the drivers rear. How easy will it be to replace that. I used to do brakes so im pretty sure my friend and i could it.
It seems like you can either replace it with a factory honda one or run your own hard line. Im not sure where the line is split though. Suggestions? thanks!! joel

please do elaborate? did you get screwed once and base that statement on your personal experience? take with you a tubing bender, a jack, some fittings, a flare tool and some tubing. you should be able to make your own brake line.
did you already pay the person make sure you inspect everything else, was this information disclose prior to bidding. shouldnt be too hard to replace the line, maybe you can find a used one at the junk yard?

if its the hardline, is it the whole line from the front to back of the vehicle, looks like a PITA job and a tow should be recommended. Better safe then sorry, here a pic from hondautomotiveparts.com dont know it its the correct vehicle.

Brake hard lines don't fail on their own. What was the previous owner doing that caused him to damage / remove the existing line? What else are you going to find wrong with the car?
Without a full inspection, I sure wouldn't trust my life on a 12 hour drive in a car of unknown condition.
so what are my options as far as towing it?? whats the cheapest thing i can rent if i dont have a car that strong enough to tow. ?
pay a buddy to go with you who has a truck and a hitch and tow it home yourselves. Rent one of those car towing hitch attachments too. This will cost alot less than paying a tow truck

I believe U-Haul rents those tow dollies, and all you need is an SUV or pickup with a hitch attachment to town it with. Its gonna cost you as much as, or less than the price of gas to bring it back. You can also try craigslist because there are people who can tow it like that back for you so you could fly down, check it out, and have it dropped off at your house the next day.
my '96 RS with 230k miles that has spent its entire life in the northeast (i.e. harsh winters), that also has a leak at one of the hard lines, begs to differ with you. ever heard of corrosion?
don't say **** if you don't really know.

The only cool car I ever saw was a Mint Dealership 1998 Acura Integra GSR Sedan with only 1,700 miles on the car! I think it was sold last year or two years ago...
Acura wanted $18,000 for the car and it went down to $16,000 then somewhat showed on ebay after a couple of months! lol I don't know how much it was sold for but that car sure was cool! You can say it was basically A NEW ACURA INTEGRA!
