Default TEIN dampers

Was wondering what the best solution to clean the rods for tein dampers. After using them for a few miles or so there's a bunch of dust, rocks, grits etc. Basically its dirty and I took them off just recently to clean but wasn't really sure what to use? Is water and soap okay usage for them or do i have to get some kind of special solution?

I was going through the pdf file on their site but it hardly helps with cleaning.
Has anyone done this before if so what was used to clean?

Thanks in advance for helping.

Soap and water should be fine.

They get splashed when you drive through a puddle, water shouldn't hurt them.
