Default When to start using high mileage oil?

I have a 95 gsr with 178,xxx miles. And i was wondering whens a good time to start using high mileage oil. Compression was 190 across the board. I currently use 10-30 mobile one since I first got the car with 150,xxx. I was also considering using castrol 10-30 high mileage. thanks. If mods matter, I/H/E with itr cams n vafc2

I would continue the use of the Mobil 1, no point in changing it up now especially if compression is good and you're not burning alot of oil in between changes

Since you've been using synthetic oil, I would keep using synthetic oil. Therefore I assume you're asking whether to use the regular Mobil 1 synthetic oil (the one that's just called "Mobil 1") or the "Mobil 1 High Mileage" synthetic oil (as it's called).

I don't think you have to use the high mileage oil, unless you want to. If you read about Mobil 1 High Mileage on the Mobil website (click here), it sounds like a lot of the differences are designed for cars which have previously been using conventional oil and/or not been having oil changed regularly, since they're designed to clear up sludge and deposits. That's probably not the case since you've been using synthetic (Mobil 1) for a while. But I don't think the high-mileage stuff would hurt anything, either. So you should be able to go either way without any problems.

FWIW, we use regular synthetic oil, rather than high-mileage synthetic oil, in our 1994 Integra with 195K miles, and have been doing so since it was new.

It's also worth noting that Honda recommends 5W30 as the preferred viscosity for the Integra. 10W30 can also be used if the outside temperature doesn't go below 20F, but 5W30 is still preferred at all temperatures. So that's the viscosity I use.
