What size exhaust Pipe should I use? Is 2 1/4 too big?

What size exhaust Pipe should I use? Is 2 1/4 too big?
The Plan is to run a pipe from the exhaust manifold to a performance tip, no cat. Right now the car is a totally stock 1990 Integra, 4 door.
Eventually it'l have CAI, and performance exhaust and intake manifolds.
Is a 2 1/4 inch exhaust pipe too big? I want the maximum power, but also a deep sound. I know the key to power is exhaust velocity, so I think maybe I should get a 2" or something.
ANy thoughts??

2 is too small. 2.5-3in is more for turbo or forcefed applications. 2.25 should be fine. most exhausts come with 2.25 piping.
