I'm removing the valve cover off of a d16y8 to paint it, but have no clue what gaskets I will need to replace, I bought the car used soi am gonna be safe and replace what I need to, I've never removed a valve cover before so any pointers and or precautions you reccomend are appreciated, thanks.

 

Valve cover gasket and spark plug tube gaskets. You can get a kit from Felpro or you can buy OEM ones from Majestic Honda or other dealer. Most important make sure you dont snap the valve cover bolts they only require a couple pounds of torque when you reinstall.(like 8lbs ft.) And use Hondabond on the specified locations in the Helm or Haynes service manual.

 

I'm planning on doing this Monday, so can I get any of this at advanced, autozone, or oreilly?

 

you can get them from autozone... check to see if you need to replace any when you take the cover off...

 

Do they sell the Hondabond, or a product that does the same thing??

 

RTV silicone, same thing basicly.

if u have the honda gasket on u CAN reuse it, buddy

 

you dont have to replace the gasket and just so you know the spark plug tube gaskets are hella hard to get off took me a good amount of time in order to get them off
