Default Anoying low rpm/light throttle hesitation problem... O2 related??

JDM B16A OBD0 swap in 88 CRX Si.
10k miles on the swap in 4 mos and no other issues except this one that I've had since day 1 .... and i cant figure out!

It has a very anoying low rpm/light throttle hesitation problem...
If I'm cruising at low rpm, between 2-3k it sputters and doesnt respond to throttle until i either:
(a) let off the gas and then hit it again.
(b) floor it
No matter what, as soon as it gets above 3k it clears up.

I replaced EVERYTHING ignition related and always have the same results. (dizzy/ecu/plugs/wires/etc) and I looked over the wiring, seems fine....

It certainly feels O2 sensor related...I'm using two Universal single wire Bosche O2's from Autozone...could it be that i need to use OEM honda O2's?

I thought maybe I had the primary/secondary O2's wired backwards but I swapped em and it was just as bad or worse...

Any thoughts??

Sounds like you need to check your Throttle Position Sensor Calibration. Usually the TPS (located on the firewall side of the throttle body) is bolted in place with the proper calibration. Inspect your TPS to see if there are philips and/or hex bolts holding it in place instead of the factory blank head screws. If there are bolts/screws in place this would indicate someone has removed and then reinstalled the TPS and the calibration could be off.

If you have programmable engine management you can use the software interface to see what the TPS is reading at idle.

I believe the JDM throttle bodies came with hex heads from the factory.

i was under the impression that all oem bseries t-bodys had the tps rivited in like if you where to replace it you would have to drill it out tap it then get screws, or buy a knew one from the dealer

do u have a electrical tester at home or avalible? I've had this same problem with my gsr and still get it every now and then but real rare . happend after I went sk2 mani, tbody, i drilled out my tps sensor from stock t-body so im sure it just needs to be replaced ... i think u can pick a new one up for 30 bucks try it out and see if it eliminates the problem

Every JDM TB I have seen has the torx bolts. Every USDM TB I have seen has the stupid rivets.

I haven't seen tons of TBs but enough for myself to be convinced.

If you check the basic sensors (TPS, O2) and don't find a problem, then check the current from your alternator. You would be surprised how many minor electrical issues stem from inconsistent alternator output.

Best of luck.
