Default Another Valve Cover Removal Question

I've searched but couldn't find what I was looking for after reading pages worth...

My question is the valve cover gasket suppose to be loose?I bought on from autozone because oil is getting into my spark plugs.I changed those with no problem. But the actual valve cover gasket wont get tight.Maybe the wrong one?Any suggestions?

Also anyone have an idea how to get the oil out of the spark plugs?Just a paper towel?

Thanks

VC gasket may seem strecthed out or loose, just work with it and it will go in the track like its supoosed to

As far as getting the oil out of the plug holes, just use some paper towel on the the end of a socket extension and soak it all up-just make sure you get all the towel particles out

i've ran into plenty of aftermarket vc gaskets that wouldn't fit properly. i would junk it and buy an oem vc gasket. for the spark plugs just take them out and wipe them. you probably need new spark plug vc gaskets too.

If there is too much oil on the plugs then they are fouled and will cause misfires. Just get new plugs if that happens.

Though, it may not be required...try a thin layer of Red RTV 650 Silicone (that would normally be used for atuomatic transmission gastets).
Clean the track and squeeze in a little and smear it in the track.
Install the gasket, the apply a thin layer of the RTV on sthe gasket (that is now exposed).
Allpy extra RTV at the 8 corners of the recesses.
Hand tighten the screws. Torque them to 7.2 lbs
Start with the 4 closest to the spart plugs and go clockwise.
The do the 4 farest from the spark plugs, going closkwise.

Look on pages 6-81 and 6-82 of the Integra Servicxe Manual.

I already plan on changing the plugs.I have them already. The plugs are already misfiring lol but I just cant get them out because theres too much oil and they just wont move.I have the spark plug vc gaskets already. Those fit perfectly.

My main question is trying to get that damn valve cover gasket to fit.i'll post up some pics later.

the corner should be fine once its pressed down, if it bothers you that much though you should get an OEM one, why exactly cant you get the spark plugs out though? Loosen them up and use a magnet to put them out. Make sure you replace your spark plug tube seals as well seeing as you have a **** ton of oil that was leaking into the tube holes. As far as your oil in the head, that looks normal but the color of the oil looks badly burned. Here is a comparison from when i did my valve cover gaskets at 188k on mine.

Lol well the corner wont go down man. When I put the valve cover on the gasket falls out...I didnt know there would be that big of a difference between oem & aftermarket but obviously there is.The spark plugs wont loosen.I guess I just need to get the oil out first then go from there. The spark plug seals have been changed already. The aftermarket ones fit fine.

wont loosen? you mean your trying to remove them but they are...A) stripped in or B) seized? and i used a beck arnley gasket for mine, fit just fine. I get all my parts from rock auto. Beck arnley is a japanese product if its any consolation to you lol

The gasket you're using is Felpro .. which for the ls valve cover is complete ****.

And if you ever have the VC off again, it will only get worse.

I've had the same exact kit on my car for well over 9,000 miles with absolutely no problems. Once torqued down, there really shouldn't be a problem with leaks passing the gaskets..

i actually used tampons to soak the oil up from the spark plug wells. the valve cover gasket will sometimes look as if it doesn't fit. when you put the gasket on, press in the shorter sides first making sure its a perfect fit where the cam caps will sit. run the gasket down starting from the sides into the center with your finger. it will seem a little loose until the valve cover is in place and is time to torque it down. if you still experience issues with it, double check and triple check to make sure you recieved the proper gasket kit for your application.

edit: i've always used felpro replacement gaskets and have NEVER had a leak issue with them. also, before installing the valve cover you do know to competely clean off the mating / sparkplug well surface on the head right?
