Default Bought a car and have some qestions about it?

93 civic EX
car was a stolen recovery. motor/trans, interior and doors stolen.

My Q is on the motor. Right now it has a Y7 block with a Z6 head in it but the distributor doesn't line up with the 3 bolts. I think its the Y7 distributor and I'm about to replace the timing belt tentioner and set the timing. I was going to put a Z6 distributor on it but I'm not sure if its plug and play or if I'll have to repin the plugs. If I have to repin it can some one give me a link to the info?

Also witch ecu do I need for the Y7/Z6 combo? I want to make sure I have the right one in the car to work the Vtec.

thanks

Z6 ecu. if the harness is from lets say 92-95 ex coupe that came with the z6 the distributor should plug and play if it isnt you will probably need to repin(I can't help you find info on it at the moment)

thanks

Are the y7 and z6 distributors interchangeable plug wise?

O I bet they left the y7 engine harness one the motor when they put the y7 motor in. that could explain the y7 distributor.

ok so yeah if the harness is from a 96-00 dx/lx model car no it won't be a plug and play. GO HERE http://boomslang.us/obd0_1.pdf scroll all the way down to the 6th page very last diagram. It shows you what color the wire is and what function it has for obd0/1/&2 so if you need to rewire thats all you need to use to find out what wire goes where. please correct me if that diagram is wrong.

or he can buy a obd2 to obd1 jumper to plug into his obd1 ecu and he wont have to chop up his harness.

Its prob not a y7 dizzy and if one bolt dont line up its fine. As long as its at least a single cam Vtec dizzy there should be no problems.

Any Vtec ecu would work. I dont see any problem with you setup

he wouldn't need to chop his harness up, he would need to cut the plug off the dizzy he has now and put it onto his new one. it will save him some money

the problem with his set up is a z6 is vtec and a y7 is not.
as well as a z6 is obd1 and a y7 is not.

opps forgot that.. your correct.
also i think password jdm makes a plug for this, so instead of switching plugs he can just plug it in.

not really, it would be built like a normal mini-me setup with the y8 head, he just needs a sandwhich plate to run an oil line to the head for vtec and obviously get a vtec dizzy and ecu. the y7 block and the y8 block are basically identical.
