Default Why do cars 3 wheel?

Why do cars 3 wheel? I have heard it is because the chassis is not stiff enough. I have also heard that an LSD can help solve this. Please tell me what the main cause of 3 wheeling is and whether it is necessarily bad or not.

Thanks

yes if there isnt enough roll resistance you could lift a inside wheel while turning. also to if you are running an arb and you run out of roll rate it will pick up the other side because the lca.s are linked together.

i saw you posted in the slammed thread but didnt read it...but are you "3wheeling" while turning or for the cool 3wheel shot on the curb?? lol.

yeah, either due to a stiff sway bar prleoading the inside rear, not allowing as much droop as body roll, or an adjustable coilover with zero droop, causing wheel to lift as body rolls.

Yeah you caught me. I didn't read it haha. I am just more into performance than looks. Anyways, my car is completely stock, so no I am not 3 wheeling nor do I really want to. I am trying to get involved in autocross and whatnot. I am just curious as to why I see alot of time attack cars and such 3 wheeling when I've heard that it is a bad thing.

Means you have serious weight transfer going on and some form of droop limitation (bushing resistance, shock max extension, stiff swaybar, etc...). Some well balanced cars can even get 2 wheels off the ground.

just like everything else you have people say 3 wheel is bad and obviously alot of people who dont mind dog pissing.

also the autox thing. if your car is stock now take it out to an event. run the stock class obviously..you will have a blast.

Different roll centers from front to rear causes an inside front or rear wheel to lose contact in a corner.
