the box on the speaker looks like an amplifier. They may be Chrysler infinity speakers. To hook them up you should bypass the amp and go directly to the speaker input on the speaker

The speakers are Bi-AMPLIFIED...meaning the high and low frequencies are driven separately by the amp. You would need the measure the impedance of each speaker side
to see if its compatible to what you are trying to do. You will probably need to add separate
passive crossovers to the speakers if they can work in your application.

How do you measure the impedance of a voice coil?
You can take measurements and calculate it. But is there a real way to measure?

use a multimeter and set it to ohms

Radio Shack carries a $8.99 multimeter (even comes with batteries). I think I've bought and lost (more likely left at a friend's house) at least 4 of them over the years.

Anyone playing with electronics should have a multimeter. Really no excuse not to when they're that cheap...

no, but you should have a digital multimeter they are very handy, checking speakers, blown fuses, and if it has an anp meter you can check current draw if you have battery problems.

There is a way to measure impedance of a coil, but seeing as it varies with frequency...

hold both leads of the meter to where the speaker wires go into the speaker

That is correct, although it makes no diff. which probe you put on which speaker terminal, it will still get you the electrical resistance of the speakers VC, [voice coil].

If the speakers are out of a Chrysler/Dodge they are part of an Infinity system, the tweeter is driven directly off the HUs power and the woofer is boosted, [amplified] by the small amp on each speaker.

Just remove the amps and wire the two sets of terminals in parallel, the tweeter will have a cap on it for a x-over.

You can confirm this by touching the speaker terminals with any batt., [AAA, AA, C, D, or 9V] I use a 9V.
When you touch the terminals the speaker will "pop", if it is the woofer terminals the woofer cone will move, if the batt. pos.(+) is on the speakers pos.(+) terminal the cone will "pop" out, if the batt. pos.(+) terminal is on the speakers neg.(-) terminal the cone will "pop" in.
When batt. is touched on tweeter terminals the tweeter will "pop", [more like a quiet "snap"] if you pull the batt. and touch the terminals again and there is no "snap" the tweeter has a cap, reverse the batt. and you will hear the "snap" again.
You will not see the tweeter cone move. 94

good idea to remove amp but also be careful when removing. I have broken a couple of magnets while trying to pry a little to hard in the wrong spot

Ditto the above^^^
Other then take up room and look ugly, it can't hurt to leave them in place, just disconnect them from the speakers. 94

i took off the amps but i disassembled them and unscrewed them instead of prying them off
