02 TL Ball Joint
Anyone ever replaced a front left ball joint on a 2002 TL? I've never worked on a TL suspension, is there an upper and lower ball joint? Do they have to be pressed out? Any diagrams would be helpful.
Front suspension is pretty much the same basic design as the Civic/Integra. There is an upper/lower ball joint. They can typically be removed with a bfh (big f'n hammer) after the circlip is removed. Install should be done with a press or a large C clamp with an adapter for ball joints. Pretty easy and straightforward really..

Do you realize what hes asking? Replacement of the ball joint, not just separating it from the knuckle. BFH works great for separation too though (when hit in the right spot), pickle forks are for hacks. My directions are assuming he has the knuckle already separated and on the work bench. UCA ball joint is also the same procedure when sitting on the bench.
Where you added MacPherson in my quote implies the Civic is pre MacPherson and the Integra is not.

and before you try to be intelligent, you might want to realise that pre mc pherson strut civics are indeed double wishbone just like the TL......and no it does not imply what you are thinking- it means exactly what it says civics that are pre mc pherson struts have the same basic suspension as the TL
Re-read what I wrote. You are simply overanalyzing, why am I not surprised... He asked how to remove a ball joint, not separate it. I simply answered the question. Here, this makes more sense since you cant seem to figure it out: Where you added MacPherson in my quote says the Civic is pre MacPherson (true) and implies the Integra is not (false).
Using a pickle fork in conjunction with a bfh can also result is lots of harsh and forceful pounding. The suspension can easily handle either method. Its strictly my opinion, dont agree? Dont care. And I was being nice at first, but dont edit my words. Its really not allowed, unless you're a moderator?
