Ac compressor install?
When i bought my gsr it didnt have the compressor. The owner said he didnt get around to putting a new 1 in. He gave me all the bolts n a pack of 24 gaskets n the ac lines are there n zip tied saftly. I just bought a compressor from ebay. Do i just bolt i up n recharge it? What are the gaskets for n i have to put refrigerant oil in? Is that what the recharge is? Or should i just take it in and get it done?
I would check to see what a shop would charge to do this like the dealership, or independent shop. I could be wrong, but if the car was not a option with A/C then you might have to put in a evaporator in at the dash, and a condenser near the radiator. But if the car does have A/C and it needs just a Compressor then just change the compressor and put new oil in, then vacuum the lines for I would do a hour or longer, then charge it. Wait around for a Honda Guru to help answer this question too.
Being a tech at a Honda dealer I would suggest if you know how to install all of the parts yourself, do it since it will save you a ton of cash in labor and take the car to a dealer or repair shop to get it vaccumed and re charged. The do it yourself re-charge method wont work well with a system that has been exposed to moisture for a long period of time
