sohc rebuild????
well i have a y8 and it has bad bearings and the crank is also scard so i was wondering what cranks work with the block like if there interchangeable???? juz curious if anything else works with the sohc blocks.. also is there a place i can get a crank and bearings at online or localy? thnx for ur time ..good day to all
you could always throw a y7, y8 block in it, and then just put your y8 head on it.
you could put any y8 part in, and im pretty sure y7 cranks are the same.
you could use oem bearing, what would use, our there is king and acl

I know the parts are the same but like is there a diffrence from a z6 and if there was a bad bearing what are my options to redoin the motor or what not..
i cant answer on the differnces bewteen the z6, i just dont know.
first off i would have a shop check your crank to see if its even fixable.
if it is use that, if not id just grab another y8 or y7 crank.
or just swap a full short block in.

BINGO!
the only time i would say "go ahead and rebuild" is if you had plans to do internal work anyway, like boring over, or droping in forged rods/pistons. but like 98civdx said, find yourself an unmolested Y8 and just swap it in.
unless you can do machine work yourself, for free.. you can end up paying the same or more to recondition your engine as you would for a engine you buy from a salvage yard or individual.
i do know it's a good idea to get some sort of reciept for the engine, and a VIN from the original car so you don't get blamed for having stolen property
