Default Couple fo DR questions...

I've gone to the track a few times and must say I need a little work. I have a couple questions. I'm on 205-50-15 Drag radials, but I can't seem to hook them. Is it better to come off the clutch faster and feather the throttle, or ride the clutch? If your riding the clutch, is it better to go WOT and do it, or still feather the gas? Is it OK to hit the limiter in 1st, or should you shift before? I've always heard not to hit the limiter, but others say to do it in 1st. Is it better to be spinning the tires and keep the throttle pegged to keep boost up for the next gear, or better not to spin even though boost isn't really building?I need to do something to get these 60ft times down because 2.3 isn't gonna cut it. Sorry for all the noob questions, but I can't get more than 4-5 runs everytime I go to the track, so it's hard to get enough practice to figure it all out. I'd like to try and work on the best methods instead of wasting my time with stuff that doesn't work. Thanks. RTV.

Assuming you are using this on the car listed in your sig, they are too small of a tire. You are going to need something bigger for 400whp. I would look at a 225 or 235.

Your better off riding the clutch and not flooring it untill you start moving. What is your tire pressure? are you doing a burnout? what car is it in?

yeah, I'm beggining to think you may be right. I was hoping to be able to cut decent 60s with the 205s, but it seems to be an up hill battle.

Tire pressure is 15psi, I do a small burnout, couple seconds long just to warm them up a bit, and it's in an integra RS, 1994. Should I even floor it in first? Seems even if I don't floor it, The tires always chirp all through 1st. I assume that's just normal.

I'm looking at some Mickey Thompson 225-50-15s. I think I may give them a go, but are there going to be any issues running them on a 15x6.5 inch rim as opposed to a 15x7 inch rim?

Really want to be able to try and get decent times on DRs right now. Slicks will come in the future though. I want to get some traction bars, but I don't get wheel hop, at least none that I notice. Are they still gonna help? I usually only hear about them bieng used to prevent the hop.

I'm having the same problem.. I'm making 316 on a SOHC and I can't hook for ****! It seems good on the street but not at the track... I'm also thinking they will be to small.. I'm thinking about going with the 225/50 or 235/60.. I just dont wanna buy another set and find out that they are to small as well...

Ha these arnt RWD cars......

Do a good burnout(I did 3rd gear). DR need to be hot to work well. Like FMFkid250 said lower them to they start working better. I ran 8psi and went 1.81 with the 225's 4800rpm two step building 5psi.
I went 11.5's on 15psi on pump gas making about 400whp. On race gas I went 11.18 @133 on 25psi.

What suspention are you running? If your not running a true coilover then you need to try limiting straps to keep the front from lifting no more then 3". I dropped .2 just from them alone.

They tie the front susp. to the car. Keep the front from lifting up and taking the weight off the tires.

I made mine, but I've seen them for sale on here.

15psi in a bfg at any power level is going to suck. I have over 100 passes on bfgs. around 8psi is the sweet spot. (1.84 60') 330's is what counts on a bfg though.

I would listen to Rick aka (nonvtecallmotor) and Joe aka (fmfkid250). I have personally seen Rick run some goods times on the BFG's, or maybe they were the Hoosiers,......... but I know both of them are correct in the way they like to run on BFG's. I like to run on street tires and I have taken advice from these guys and it does work, although, I like the M&H bias ply DOT tires.

I'll give 8 PSI a try when I go to the track next week. Hopefully that'll do it. What do you think about the tire size? Should I go bigger, or should I be able to pull decent 60s with the 205s?

You could probably just search on this site and possibly in the drag forum. I have seen pics in here before of peoples limit strap setups. You could get creative and put something together and make it work. Thats what most people that use them do, from what I have seen anyways.
